Mark 7
When Jesus and His disciples arrived to their next destination by boat, the Pharisees came from Jerusalem to join them. When they were having a meal, the Pharisees noticed that some of the disciples ate with unwashed hands. They found this at fault, because they always held the tradition of washing their hands in a special way. They then asked Jesus why His disciples didn’t follow the tradition, and Jesus told them that they (the Pharisees) held the tradition of men instead of the commandment of God. He told them that there is nothing that enters a man from the outside that corrupts his purity, but the things that come out of him that defile him. If what comes out of the man’s heart are evil things, then that is what defiles him, not the food that he puts into his body. Jesus then healed a little girl of an unclean spirit and healed a deaf man to hear. Through all of His healing, He still asked God for His guidance and spirit, showing us His character and love for God.
