Mark 2
When Jesus got to Capernaum, everyone had heard that He was coming and were expecting His arrival. When Jesus started preaching, there were four men carrying a paralytic that wanted to reach Him but couldn't get through the crowds. They broke through the roof to get to Jesus. Jesus then forgave him of his sins and revealed Himself as God. He did this by healing the man so that he could walk. He then went to Levi's house where tax collectors and sinners joined them for dinner. When the Pharisees saw Him eating with them, they judged Him right away. Jesus told them that He wanted to sit with the sinners to call them to repentance. He didn't treat them any different because He wanted to help them. He also wanted to show the Pharisees that they can be saved. Jesus says that fasting is done to be closer to God because He is the one that brings salvation. Jesus reminds us that the Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. This means that the Sabbath doesn't have to be on Sunday, it can be any day as long as we set aside a day to reset and rest. We should be doing something that gives us pleasure while giving Him praise.
