Mark 6
Jesus then traveled to his own country of Nazareth. When he began teaching, the people started questioning Him. They had known Him His whole life, but did not know Him and the Son of God. He couldn’t heal people there, because they didn’t believe in Him. He began to send His twelve disciples out two by two, giving them power over unclean spirits. He commanded them to take nothing but sandals and two tunics. He blessed them and gave them the power of the Holy Spirit in their endeavors. King Herod told his daughter that whatever she wanted, that he would give it to her. She went and asked her mother what she should ask for, and her mother told her to ask for the head of John the Baptist. The king sent an executor to retrieve John the Baptist’s head, which he brought on a platter. When Jesus arrived at His next destination, multitudes of people were waiting there for Him. He began to teach them, but then learned that they had nothing to eat. His disciples only had five loaves of bread and two fish, which would not have been enough to feed all of them. Jesus then blessed and broke the loaves, which multiplied and provided enough food for the five thousand people.
