Mark 1
John the Baptist and Jesus were never supposed to be born. In Luke 1, Gabriel the angel came to Zacharias telling him that his wife Elizabeth would have a baby, even though she was barren. Zacharias did not believe Gabriel so he went mute because of his doubt. Then Gabriel went to virgin Mary and told her that she will give birth to Jesus, the Son of God. He told her that the Holy Spirit will come upon her. Elizabeth and Mary were cousins, so John and Jesus were born second cousins, and were both born with the Holy Spirit. In Mark, John the Baptist talks about how he can baptize with water, but Jesus can baptize with the Holy Spirit. John baptized Jesus, because Jesus was supporting John's ministry and wanted to show His humility by identifying with human and sin. When a man a man in the synagogue was possessed by an unclean spirit, Jesus cast out the evil spirit and everyone started talking about Him. Jesus then went on to healing a woman of her fever, which started a gathering of people wanting to be healed. He continued to heal the sick and cast out the evil spirits. Jesus still took time out of His busy days to worship the Lord, because that was so important to Him. Even though he was the Son of God, He still wanted to spend valuable time with the Lord. This teaches us that in spite of how busy our lives get, we should still make time to spend with God to continue to build our relationship with Him. It can be in any way that we want, He doesn't care because He just wants to spend time with us. When Jesus cleansed a leper, the leper proclaimed it to the whole city, making it hard for Him to travel the city freely.
